Good morning to all of you…or at least have a good one today guys, no matter where you live! So yesterday I was pretty much into that whole Starbucks Blends thing, noting that the Medium Blend is the perfect choice for me. The dark roast is fine, tastes good for dark roast lovers, but I can only have it when I really need a kickstart on Monday mornings.
Anyway, now I want to look at the blends even closer, up close and personal. Because every season has a blend of its own. I’ll be writing about the Starbucks Tribute Blend and I’ll show you the fascinating world of the seasonal blends.
We will start with the Starbucks Veranda Blend. Sounds promising, right? And it is indeed. Perfectly suited for a Sunday afternoon with friends and family, or just to calm you down after a hectic day at the office.
A mellow blend with a soft and friendly disposition. Roasting this blend of specially chosen Latin American beans for a shorter time allows the delicate nuances of soft cocoa and lightly toasted nuts to blossom. Named for the serene terraces decorating towns and neighborhoods throughout the regions where these beans were grown, Veranda Blend™ is a gentle and inviting cup best served with a sunny day, a good friend and nothing in particular to do.
Just the thought of it is relaxing…sitting on a sunny porch, freshly brewed coffee on the little wooden table next to your veranda chair. Let’s move on and take a look at another blend.Blend. Who doesn’t like breakfast? Or, well, at least breakfast on a Saturday, when you’ve got a little bit more time to dive into the sweetness of your caffeine dosis.
Well, here’s the thing:
There are morning people. And there are others who decidedly are not morning people. Although the gulf between these two types is huge, we think all can agree that our Breakfast Blend is one fine coffee.It’s a gathering of Latin American beans chosen for their sparkling flavor. Kind of like orange juice and the way it dances on your tongue, this coffee has a get-up-and-going charge to it.
The Breakfast Blend is a Medium Blend and would be perfection in my morning cup.
Now, before we finally turn to the dark side of blends, let us take a look at the legen-dary Organic Yukon Blend. There’s a nice little story to this blend which you should have heard of as a true SB-Fan. Personally, I would have a huge cup of the Yukon Blend if I am about to have a long, cold ride through the dark forests and foggy mountains.
Gutsy, robust and ready to face the untamed northern reaches, this coffee has a tale as old as Starbucks itself. As the legend goes, back in 1971 the original owners of Starbucks crafted this blend for one of our customers – the captain of a fishing fleet who wanted to keep his crew happy in chilly sub-arctic seas. Our coffee had to stand up to frigid mornings and long days spent fishing in the icy waters where the Yukon River feeds into the Bering Sea. And so we created Yukon Blend: a hearty, bold, well-rounded coffee that laughs in the face of nature at its most rugged.
And now, finally: the dark side. One of my favorite dark blends is the Espresso Roast. It is as important to Starbucks as candy to a little child. A must have at home at every time of year.
This is the heart of our most popular coffee beverages. It’s a special blend of beans from Latin America and Asia/Pacific darkly roasted to produce a rich and caramelly sweetness. Because this dense, full-bodied brew has a stout taste that stands up against milk, it’s the perfect foundation for making a latte or cappuccino at home. Here’s an interesting fact:Espresso was invented in Italy by an enterprising soul who was seeking a way to prepare coffee in less time, in order to serve commuters rushing to catch trains. Which is somewhat ironic when you think about it, because coffee lovers in Italy (and all over the world) now prefer to savor their espresso in long, slow sips.
‘Nuff said, right?
We all love Christmas, so I will not indulge into the loveable Christmas Blend at this time of the year, but ther is one more. The Starbucks Tribute Blend. Also a must.
